Take the code with you
Want full ownership of the code, or to move it to another platform? You can take everything with you — nothing is locked in.
Two ways out
| Method | What you get | Where |
|---|---|---|
| git clone | The source as a git repository | "Repo" tab → "Clone" at the top right |
| Package export | One zip: source code, the real database rows (SQL) and the app secrets | "Download package" inside the clone dialog |
git clone
- Open the "Repo" tab on the right of the workspace;
- Click "Clone" at the top right;
- For a private app, click "Generate download token" first (valid for 1 hour) and append it to the command;
- What you get is a standard frontend + backend project — install dependencies and run it locally.
Package export (code + data + secrets)
- In the same dialog, click "Download package";
- The zip contains
code/,database/(schema and data as SQL),secrets/.env,config/wrangler.jsoncand a README; - A published app exports its live database; an unpublished one exports the preview data.
The archive contains plaintext secrets. Never push it to a public repository, and rotate any key that leaks.
A few details
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Is the code mine? | Yes, 100%. |
| Does exporting affect the live app? | No — the app keeps running on the platform. |
| Does the data come with it? | Yes. The SQL inside the package is the app's real database content. |
| Who can export? | Only the owner of that app. |
